Matthew and I are on a crusade to improve the lives of people with autism because we know it can be tough out there. 

At the age of 4, I was diagnosed with autism PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder). Growing up I was actively engaged in sports and even played the role of my high school's mascot! Having autism, school wasn't always easy.

Into adulthood I joined the Burkhart Center for Adults with Autism at Texas Tech University. I'm proud to be named the first student of the Burkhart Center to achieve milestones such as marriage, employment, driving, and graduation. Having autism, adulthood isn't always easy. 

Motivated by my own experiences, the obvious gaps in resources, and Matthew's autism diagnosis in September 2022, I embarked on a journey to make a difference in the realm of community activism. 

I quickly found myself with a large team of community leaders by my side. Thus, Creating Connections Piece by Peace was born. We are barely getting started and I'm loving the journey!
